Melbourne based DJ Luke Shamanix was first exposed to outdoor psytrance gatherings during the summer of 96-97 at earthcore and green ant forest parties . luke was impressed and moved by what he had experienced , and set about collecting much of the music that inspired him over the years to follow , before playing his first gigs in 1999 at at underground forest activist parties and at club nights such as Velocity .
Since then he has played at and helped to organise numerous forest gatherings , along with DJing at many larger club and outdoor events .
In 2001 luke was a co-founder of the U.C.C. ( unconscious collective crew ), a loose coalition of like minded individuals from across Victoria who come together periodically to create intimate outdoor gatherings. These have included the “Vanishing Point” and “Solar Lunacy” series of parties , along with “Arcane Ritual“, thrown in collaboration with Alien Earth Events.
Most Recently U.C.C. hosted the south african full-on master Artifakt on the Victorian leg of his Australian tour at "KerPlunk!" .
Luke draws his inspiration from across the spectrum of psychedelic trance styles and from a diverse range of artists . his signature sound is that of dark nights in deep forests : pounding kicks , punchy effects and wild atmospherics delivered with minimum cheese .
