ARTIST BIO
MANTRIX aka Benjamin Last and Richard Hinkson are a Melbourne based Psy-Trance duo that have been producing and performing since 1993. With solid musical production foundations, as well as extensive knowledge of musical theory and instrumentation, Mantrix have developed a unique alchemy of live electronic and instrumental performance and composition. The dynamic duo have united countless dance floors with their unique sets, earning the respect and admiration of many fans and event organisors.

For about seven years to date, Mantrix have toured Australia, performing at open air festivals such as Outback Eclipse, Exodus, Woodford, Rainbow Serpent (six times), Earthcore (five times), Earthdance (five times). Mantrix are known for their dedication to putting on spectacular shows, such as Earthdance Melbourne 2004, where their set included a jam with Australian rock legends, Regurgitator, Tibetan chanting, Indigenous Australian dancers, screaming guitar solos and a stage full of tribal percussion.

Mantrix have been known to run their own nights, in which they provide all the music for the whole night, including everything from live ambient performances with middle eastern musicians and vocalists, to live Hard Trance sets and DJing everything from World music, to funky disco sets, to full on Psy-Trance. With a strong tribal backbone, Mantrix’s music has matured to be appreciated by a wide audience, while still satisfying their fans among the Trance communities. With a professional edge that successfully fuses Ben’s shamanic percussive energy and Richie’s melodic wizardry, Mantrix create a distinctive, yet diverse strain of Psy-Trance that hypnotises their fans, and truly rocks the party.

Since the age of thirteen Ben Last has explored the power of music in his life. Starting on the drum kit, he began his drumming career with a love of heavy metal, grunge and thrash music. He was later joined by Richard on guitar when they started a high school band together, C3PO. It was then that Mantrix found their musical connection.
As Ben was introduced to the rave scene, he was instantly attracted to the trance like nature of the dance and began visiting regular parties, going off on the dance floor.
Ben began playing other forms of percussion and soon found himself leading the drumming circles in to a trance with his powerful playing and high energy. Drawn by a love of eastern music he then extended his percussion skills to Indian and Middle Eastern percussion. Ben began producing psy-trance through his love of tribal trance and electro beats. Ben has recently extended his music production skills to film scores, sound design and corporate Djing. Currently, Ben also performs in Fingers of Fury, a three piece middle Eastern percussion group, and with Underbelly, an African and Turkish dance organization. He is also part of Atlantis, a collaboration project which focuses mainly on Ambient soundscapes and world beats. Through his extensive involvement in many bands, Ben has also become an experienced and incredible live performance artist. He sees the future of music being one that cross fuses electronic and acoustic instrumentation to deliver a sound that is both new and ancient, simultaneously.

Richard Hinkson has been composing and performing music since 1988. Being involved in numerous bands of many styles throughout his teens, he avoided most of his school work but achieved outstanding grades in music throughout his studies. He is a skilled instrumentalist, excelling on Guitar and Sitar, as well as having advanced knowledge of music theory and composition in both western and eastern cultures. He became involved in electronic music in 1994, which led to live digital music performance, sound engineering, and advanced sound production. Incorporating acoustic musicians and instrumentation with his electronic expertise, he has been producing music of a modern essence, which can be appreciated by a very broad audience. Richard has worked very hard for a long time to support his musical passion. He now runs a multi functional musical career consisting of remixing, studio production of a broad range of sound projects, and production consulting to advise on technical / creative techniques, live system design, and performance. Currently Richard also produces and remixes radio and club music under the name of D-Code, and is the founder and central organisor of Atlantis, in which he has pulled together a large bunch of talented producers and musicians, to create Ambient soundscapes, and world beats. He is also experienced in designing, and producing large production ceremonies for Festivals such as Earthdance. Richard’s music and passion for all things of sound, are heartfelt and inspiring.

SYLK & SENSUM
Alumaé “to become light”
Is an evolving collaboration between Russ Newton (Sensum) and John H-S (Sylk). As well as writing music, Alumaé are applying their combined talents to develop an extended performance. Fusing their own material performed live with other artist’s work DJ-ed into the mix.

The aim is to maintain the originality of live performance whilst adding the DJ’s flexibility of response to the Dancers.

Sensum:
Has been producing since 2002 His debut album “Nocturnal Transmissions” was released on ZMA in 2005 he has also released tracks on; Nervine records, Solarsiv records, Froggle records & Yellow Sunshine Explosion… After returning to Sydney in 2003, he quickly became known for tightly produced progressive sounds with a darker edge.

Sylk:
Began DJing in 1998 and founded Trancendance Productions in 1999. One of the first DJ’s in Sydney to pick up the progressive sound, Sylk’s style tends towards up-tempo morning sounds. Sylk weaves the tunes into a coherent and uplifting journey through empathy and interaction with the Dancers.

MeleE ;
is Nathan(2Cool , Michael (27) and a third silent member SteFan (27).All three got together in 2002 and began the MeleE poject due to there similar tastes is trance music. MeleE resides over two main studios which struggle to contain their lust for new gear. In recent times MeleE’s production focus has been somewhere between a full on night, and driving morning melodic sounds and always full of groove.
MeleE specialize in full LIVE performance, usually bringing everything but the kitchen sink and playing a swag of unheard /unreleased brand new fresh tunes.

Lunasphere presents Fractal Forest 3. This series of parties showcases mostly local talent in Sydney and south east nsw including Canberra. But this time I am bringing in Mantrix from Melbourne for NSW CD LAUNCH of their new album "Universal". To put it simply, these guys are magic, and the sound quality production is awesome. I seriously wouldnt miss these guys.

The site is snuggled away near the edge of the Shoalhaven Gorge and the Morton National Park, in cosy and sheltered forest. The prevailing westerlies go over the top only impacting the forest canopy.
Decor though may be a little over the top. With 4 artists contributing to this event along with cosMICKS laser show and Andys, Petes and
Andreas(diALMans) lighting, be prepared to be dazzled senselesss. And it is full moon on the monday morning.
We are going all out to make this one a magical affair with music and
mother nature. 2 long nights to go hard and get really f#%ked up for 2 days of pure bliss. Be prepared for sustained mayhem until late arvo on the main stage. Then easing into the dusk with mellower vibes until we shift the 2nd night into darkness and obivion. Not so hard as the 1st night, but if theres any evil lurking in ya soul, watch out! It will be rinsed thoroughly and hung out to dry in the morning heavenly fun madness.

Mashing it up with who knows what. I wouldnt like to predict
what will come out of this one, but it's sure to be interesting.

DIRECTIONS

FROM SYDNEY

1. Get onto Hume Hwy & head towards Goulburn.

2. About 55kms BEFORE Goulburn there is the twin servos with Macdonalds.

3. Continue 11kms and cross Paddies bridge.

4. 700 metres after bridge take 1st LEFT onto Murrimba road.
Look for WINGELLO sign

5. Go 7kms until railway crossing in town of WINGELLO.

6. Just across the railway turn RIGHT and head west towards Marulan for ONLY around 200m (past Forest Road)

7. Turn LEFT at BUMBALLA RD (the 2nd turnoff)

8. Go down BUMBALLA RD for 2.7 kms (gravel after 1km) and look for LEFT turn with sign "Shire of Wingacaribee". Go slow. The sign is a bit hard to spot.

CAUTION IN THIS AREA. LOTS OF WOMBATS

9. Go down this road for about 3 kms, the road veers right. Continue another 3kms to the party. (from this turnoff follow the glittery things & REFLECTIVE arrows). It is the same road for the 6km. Don't take active turnoffs.

FROM CANBERRA/MELBOURNE

1. When passing the servos at Marulan slow down and look for Souther Highlands Hwy turnoff to the RIGHT.

2. Turn RIGHT and go towards BUNDANOON. About 7 kms pass thru TALLONG village. Go a FURTHER 10 kms approx.

3. When approaching town of WINGELLO slow down and turn RIGHT onto BUMBALLA RD (If you pass town store u gone too far)

4. Go to nos 8 and 9 of Sydney directions.
